RIMS Engineering is a Tasmanian owned and run business providing high quality hydraulic, pneumatic, filtration and compressed air products. Based in Hobart Tasmania, RIMS Engineering has been assisting business with their air and fluid power requirements since 1981.

It’s elemental: RIMS Engineering is all about air and fluid; pneumatics and hydraulics. Our air power services include pneumatics, compressors, compressed air treatment, air dryers, and gas generation systems. Our fluid power services include hydraulics, hose and fittings and marine hydraulics. We provide complete filtration solutions for all our hydraulic and pneumatic products.

All our staff are highly trained and together have a vast inter-disciplinary knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and filtration systems. We take a whole of system approach to our work aiming to provide clients with solutions which are reliable, efficient and exceed their expectations by providing great service and using world leading suppliers.

Our History

Riley Industrial & Marine Sales (now RIMS Engineering) was founded in 1981 by Richard Riley, one of Tasmania's leading fluid power experts. Richard had worked extensively problem solving and improving products for the local fishing fleet including anchor winches and pot haulers. He recognised there was a need for a specialised hydraulic and pneumatic company to service the local industrial and marine market, and thus RIMS was born.

One of Richard's earliest clients was Tasmanian ferry operator Robert Clifford who went on to form the internationally recognised company Incat Tasmania. RIMS Engineering were contracted to supply and install hydraulic and pneumatic components for the vessels built by Incat. Over the next 20 years as Incat grew so did Richard's business. As the business grew larger it also became more diverse, taking the hydraulic and pneumatic skills learned in the marine industry and applying them across the industrial landscape from production lines to utilities.

RIMS Engineering has distribution relationships with several market leading brands including air systems from IMI Norgren pneumatics and Sullair Compressors, hydraulic systems from Eaton hydraulics and Hydac hydraulics and Filtration and Gas Generation systems by Parker filtration.

Key Staff

Caleb Frampton General Manager

Caleb has been working at RIMS Engineering since 2008. Caleb began his career as a Technical Representative and Service Supervisor before becoming General Manager in 2012. Prior to working at RIMS Engineering Caleb worked as a Project Manager in the Melbourne construction industry. Caleb has a Diploma of Management and is a qualified A grade electrician.

Vanessa Riley Director

Vanessa began working as a Director of RIMS Engineering in 2002, becoming a full time working Director and Company Secretary in 2009. Vanessa’s background prior to this was in the finance industry. Vanessa’s primary roles are business planning, financial control and legal & administrative compliance. Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and has qualifications in Management and Finance.

Phillip Bridge Internal Operations Manager

Phil began his career at RIMS Engineering 14 years ago as a Customer Service Representative. In 2014 Phil took on the role of Internal Operations Manager and is responsible for the functions of internal sales, customer service, procurement and stores management. Prior to RIMS Engineering Phil had many years’ experience in Technical Sales and Customer Service roles specialising in pneumatics and hydraulics.

Jason Cleary Area Sales Manager

Jason's background is in the automotive industry where he has accumulated a vast working knowledge since completing his Automotive Mechanics apprenticeship in 1986. Jason is part of the RIMS Engineering sales and customer service team, where he spends the majority of his time on the road visiting clients. Jason's role at RIMS Engineering primarily focuses on facilitating scheduled servicing, maintenance and upgrades to help clients maximise the productivity and reliability of their plant.
